Vertigo Investments has been founded by three partners – Waldemar Mierzejewski, Wojtek Stankiewicz and Tomasz Zofka – with the aim to leverage their cooperation to date to create a leading investment house and transaction advisory achieving above average results for investors and business partners.

Each of them has been active in business for more than 15 years and they jointly constitute a team whose investment, transactional, managerial and advisory experience – acquired across many industries and markets – is among the best in the market.

 

Waldemar Mierzejewski
is an investor, manager and consultant with more than 15 years of experience. He started his career at McKinsey & Company, a leading global management consultancy, which he left after six years joining the founding team of Polbank EFG. As deputy general director of Polbank he co-created the market entry strategy and was responsible for building the branch network at record pace.

After leaving Polbank, enlisting support of a private equity fund, he founded and led Finamo, a financial intermediary.

In recent years, he has concentrated increasingly on private investments and advisory, leading among others the first substantial joint project of a bank and a mobile operator.

He has joined Vertigo Investments after two years with Egon Zehnder, a leading global executive search firm.

Waldemar has graduated in economics from the Gdansk University, he also holds an MBA from INSEAD in France. He is a licenced stock broker.

Wojtek Stankiewicz
has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of strategy and growth, restructuring and performance improvement, as well as M&A.

For fifteen years at McKinsey he has been advising global corporations and mid-size firms alike across many industries, including consumer goods, retail, banking and telecommunications in Poland, Central Eastern Europe, Western Europe and China. He has spent one year with McKinsey in New York and has for several years contributed to the Firm’s expansion in the Middle East.

After leaving McKinsey Wojtek has cofounded Metropolitan Capital Solutions, an advisory boutique, and Kapitał Ziemski, a real estate investment firm, also pursuing own investments and entrepreneurial ventures.

In 2011 he has been nominated CEO of Rovese SA (formerly Cersanit), a leading Polish manufacturing firm with close to EUR 500 million sales, 7000 employees and more than 10 factories in Russia and Central Europe. He has left Rovese at the end of 2013.

Wojtek has graduated with an MA in Economics from the Warsaw School of Economics and holds an MBA from INSEAD in France, both summa cum laude. He has also studied at the City University in London. He is fluent in English and German, and has working knowledge of French, Spanish and Russian.

Tomasz Zofka
brings to Vertigo a first-class investment background. For 9 years he has been investment director at Kulczyk Investments - the biggest private investment house in Poland. He was involved in the majority of transactions and allocation decisions in that period in various sectors.

He was responsible among others for large infrastructure investments, private equity transactions, cooperation with industry players as well as deal structuring and portfolio management. He participated in arranging and was responsible for follow-up financing amounting in total to more than EUR 4 billion.

Before joining Kulczyk Investments he has spent two years with Arthur Andersen in Warsaw.

Recently he has been involved in private endeavours as well advisory for private capital groups and family offices.

Tomasz graduated from Gdansk University with an MA in Economics. He is alumni of London Business School in corporate finance. He is also a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder and has been awarded FRM (Financial Risk Manager) designation.

Rafał Koński
Rafal is a marketing expert with a focus on change. He has during 16 years of his career completed many projects which have permanently changed the market in a variety of modern services in Poland. He has worked for the OMD media buying house, Orange (known previously as Centertel) as well as for PTC (the operator of the Era GSM network, currently T-Mobile). At PTC he has worked on launching and subsequently growing the Heyah brand – a reference case on record breaking market share acquisition. Rafal has cooperated with private equity funds as management board member of portfolio companies. In addition, he has completed several strategic projects for the telecommunications, banking and insurance industries among others.

Rafal has graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics and the Institut Francais de Gestion.
